Privacy Policy
Effective: July 24, 2026 Β· Applies to Aya AIPal (iOS / Android) Β·
δΈζη
The short version: we run no servers, and we do not collect, store, or sell any of your data. Your books, reading activity and AI conversations either stay on your device, or go directly to the AI provider you yourself configured.
1. What we collect
Nothing. Aya AIPal requires no account, contains no analytics SDKs and no advertising SDKs. The developer has no ability to access your books, reading history, highlights, chats, or any personal information.
2. Where your data lives
- Entirely on your device: book files, library records, reading progress, highlights, pal posts, co-reading chats, and generated podcasts are stored locally only;
- System backups (iCloud / Google backup) may include this data, governed by your own backup settings;
- Deleting the app deletes all of it.
3. Where network requests go
The app talks directly to third-party services in these cases; content never passes through us:
- AI features (pal circle / co-reading / AI appreciation / translation): book-related text is sent to the LLM provider you configured yourself (e.g. OpenRouter, DeepSeek). Your API key is stored encrypted on-device (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). Which provider you use β and what gets sent β is entirely your choice, subject to that provider's privacy policy;
- Text-to-speech: text being read aloud is sent to Microsoft's Edge speech service for synthesis;
- Book metadata: titles are looked up against public Goodreads / Douban pages for covers and ratings;
- Douban list import: user-initiated, loads your own Douban pages in an in-app browser; data lands on your device only;
- Your own libraries (SMB / WebDAV / Dropbox, if configured): accessed only on your action, only your own storage.
4. Permissions
- Microphone & speech recognition: used only for voice input in co-reading chats; transcription runs on-device / via system services; no recordings are kept;
- Notifications: local notifications only (e.g. "your podcast is ready"); no remote push.
5. Children's privacy
The app contains open-ended AI conversation and is not designed for users under 17.
